Job Description
Title: Surgical Attendant
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent.
Experience: One (1) year experience in a hospital setting.
Required License/Certifications: Current CPR certification.
Required Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
- Transports patients to designated areas meeting patient comfort and safety requirements: assists in moving and positioning patients in the operating room under the direction of the RN or MD; responds to requests for transports of beds specimens etc. in a timely manner.
- Transports and cleans equipment throughout the operating room: handles and operates equipment properly and carefully; initiates work orders if required; demonstrates knowledge of terminal cleaning high level disinfection and environmental control standards by proper method and/or use of cleaning process or agents.
- Assists in room turnovers to expedite OR utilization.
- Assists in cleaning surgical suites at the end of the daily schedule ensuring all suites are ready for next days use.
- Checks stock levels by sub sterile assignments or cart assignments and restocks assigned units according to established guidelines.
- Utilizes concepts of age/developmental stages in interactions with patients and families.
- Adheres to all Hospital Policies and Procedures specifically Guidelines for Appropriate Conduct Corporate Compliance Diversity and Confidentiality.
- Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day-to-day activities of the position.
- Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care personnel and strategic issues.
- Maintains positive working relationships and fosters cooperative work environment.
