About the Role:

The Team: The MI Business Transformation Strategy & Special Projects team is responsible for guiding the overall strategy of the Market Intelligence division of S&P Global. In addition to setting long-term strategic ambitions for the division the team leads acquisitions and divestitures strategic partnerships portfolio management and competitive intelligence. The team also partners closely with Finance and business stakeholders on long-term financial planning. This small nimble team is responsible for evaluating all significant new investments for Market Intelligence and defining the requirements for delivering future growth coupled with large scale business transformation initiatives aimed at optimizing portfolio strategy and improving business profitability and productivity.

Responsibilities and Impact: Partner with business leaders across the division to shape and execute MIs portfolio and growth strategy. Report to an Executive Director of Portfolio Optimization & Transformation and lead or support a wide range of strategic initiatives and select M&A projects in accordance with the divisions top priorities across our product portfolio. Inform and influence high impact decisions by the divisions top leadership including the President CFO and Head of Strategy.

  • Directly impact MIs portfolio strategy initiatives by evaluating our products across a range of financial and strategic metrics market fit and industry outlook.

  • Gain exposure to MIs senior management team and deliver business-critical thought leadership and insights.

  • Develop deep and wide expertise across all facets of Market Intelligences business as well as liaising with Enterprise central functions on certain initiatives.

  • Analyze the divisional business portfolio to identify opportunities for optimization including new investments divestitures and other strategic options.

  • Support medium-term strategic planning processes. In partnership with the Finance team help analyze the financial results of products within our portfolio to inform our strategic plan and execution of that plan.

  • Partner with MIs product commercial and functional teams to build organic growth strategies develop business cases to support their execution and establish KPIs to monitor their performance.

  • Support the creation of materials for strategic meetings including Board meetings Strategic Business Reviews and quarterly earnings preparation.

What Were Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or masters degree (or equivalent); major in Business Finance or related field preferred.

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience required.

  • Skilled at communicating strategic narratives clearly and simply in PowerPoint. Strong slide design capabilities and exceptional attention to detail required.

  • Self-motivated worker with experience developing organic and inorganic business strategies and financial models with modest manager guidance.

  • Expertise in analyzing financial results including historical detailed revenue and expense due diligence to build out of flexible forward-looking financial models in Excel.

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyze data draw conclusions and make recommendations to senior stakeholders.

  • Collaborative team player with effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Interested and aware of market trends with the ability to explain how events impact our business.

  • Proactive with an innate sense of urgency and accountability; able to deliver results with short lead-times.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior strategy consulting corporate strategy M&A experience or strategic finance strongly preferred; knowledge of B2B information services and/or financial information services a plus.
