The Role

The Family Engagement Manager is an instrumental member of the Academy Chicago team. The ideal candidate is a strategic organizer persuasive communicator and responsive leader who thrives in dynamic mission-driven environments. The Manager fosters strong and meaningful partnerships between families and staff. The role requires the Manager to organize family meetings specific to the Academy Chicago program. The manager leads the organization and oversees the family engagement calendar workshops seminars and related endeavors. Additionally the manager supports the elementary programs recruitment strategy processes data management and event planning.

The Family Engagement Manager plays a critical role in fostering strong authentic partnerships between families and The Academy Group. This role also focuses on recruiting for the elementary program while building a vibrant community of engaged parents and other stakeholder groups.

Duties and Responsibilities

Family & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Design and implement engagement strategies and events that strengthen relationships with families caregivers and community stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Academy Group and families ensuring open inclusive and responsive communication.
  • Develop and manage stakeholder partnerships that enhance family support and contribute to program success.
  • Coordinate family feedback mechanisms and ensure input is incorporated into program planning and delivery.

Program Recruitment & Outreach

  • Lead recruitment efforts for the elementary program including outreach to local schools community organizations and prospective families.
  • Track recruitment metrics and adjust strategies to meet enrollment targets.
  • Represent the Academy Group at community events and forums to build visibility and trust within the community.

Event Planning & Management

  • Plan coordinate and execute family events open houses orientation sessions and stakeholder meetings.
  • Oversee logistics communications and execution of events ensuring a welcoming and engaging experience for all participants.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Manage family-facing communications including newsletters invitations and outreach materials in coordination with the communications team.
  • Collaborate with national staff to support family engagement aspects of national programming.
  • Support cross-site learning and implementation of best practices in stakeholder engagement.


Education and experience requirements of the ideal candidate:

  • A bachelors degree in education social work communications or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in family engagement community outreach program coordination or a related role.
  • Demonstrated success in planning and executing events building relationships and recruiting participants or members.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Deep commitment to youth development educational equity and community partnership.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events.

Additional shared accountabilities/duties.

  • Collaborate with the director of internship placement on solidifying summer internship opportunities.
  • Organize job shadowing opportunities with strategic partner companies and in the top 5 industries of choice of Academy Group students.
  • Coordinate with staff to help college cohort members make career choices based on their passions and proficiencies and in alignment with their sense of purpose.
  • Facilitate field trips for Academy cohort members.
  • Up to 15% travel for each fiscal year. The travel includes recruitment visits and college tours.

Additionally the Family Engagement Manager will have a proven track record demonstrating the following capabilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Passion idealism integrity positive attitude mission-focus and autonomous nature.
  • Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the organizations mission.
  • Ability to work under dynamic evolving conditions.

Location

This position will be based in Chicago. The position is a hybrid role.

Compensation

The Academy Group offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including medical vision dental and 401 (k) coverage. The position pay range is $65000 - $80000.00.
