Job Summary
Under minimal supervision the Director of Nursing for Inpatient Acute Care Services directs the strategic planning and operations of managers in the primary clinics. Plans directs and coordinates activities of patient care/customer service human resource management and financial management within the primary care clinics. Applies principles of patient centered care relationship based leadership financial stewardship and lean to develop and support clinical managers nurse managers nurses and nursing support staff. Participates in Policy development and collaborates with physician leadership to accomplish organizational strategic and departmental goals.
Adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing Administration Scope and Standards of Practice. Adheres to the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nurses Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Ambulatory Care Nursing Additional Competencies for Nurse Executives.
Essential Functions:
- Assessment: Collaborates with ACNO DOS Nurse Managers Nurse Program Managers Physician Team Leads and other leadership as necessary to gather and analyze data and support evidence based practice. Identifies essential elements of assessment and documentation for nursing and nursing support practice. Establishes training education and resource support for nursing managers and staff. Monitor performance. (20%)
- Diagnoses: Supports and evaluates manager and staff competency. Develops maintains and evaluates environment that supports the professional nurse manager and clinic personnel in operational activities. (20%)
- Outcomes: Participates in the design development and maintenance of inter-professional processes that establish and sustain quality leadership and outcomes. Advocates for and supports the allocation and stewardship of resources appropriate to ensure continuity of care quality outcomes and regulatory compliance. Initiates activities that improve nursing practice care team performance organizational performance and optimal patient and population outcomes.
Planning: Facilitates the development and improvement of systems in which ambulatory primary care services can be developed documented and evaluated. Facilitates the continuous improvement of primary care services that are patient centered. Supports clinical nurse educators and managers in developing and maintaining competency for themselves and staff. Collaborates throughout the organization and with community partners to ensure operations are efficient and effective to achieve desired outcomes. (15%)
- Implementation: Establishes and promotes organizational processes systems and resources. Leads and facilitates change to improve implementation of evidence based interventions tactics and strategies. Serves as expert resource and consultant in assuring standards of practice excellence are integrated in nursing/nursing support practice. Supports appropriate prioritization involve key stake holders and advocate for the needs of individuals populations and personnel across the continuum of care. (15%)
- Evaluation: Utilizes an inter-professional approach to facilitate progress toward positive patient centered outcomes that are sustainable for the health care system. Utilizes Patient Centered Medical Home and other evidence based standards to establish and promote care delivery and care coordination. Ensures regulatory compliance with accrediting agencies and payers. Fosters participation and recognition of ambulatory care services processes and personnel in internal and external formal and informal organizational committees teams work groups and task forces. (15%)

Education:
- Bachelors Degree Required
- Masters Degree Preferred
Work Experience:
- 7-9 years of nursing experience required
- 4-6 years of management experience required
- In-patient nursing experience required
Licenses:
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
- RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of accreditation standards regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well collaboratively to gather information from a variety of sources analyze information interpret and explain data design solutions and alternatives for an identified issue question or problem.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with clients families staff managers providers and all levels of management both internal and external to Denver Health.
- Ability to perform financial analysis including forecasting and exploring solutions for complex business issues. 5. Skilled in decision making regarding appropriateness of care scope of practice for roles supported and personnel issues.
- Outlook Excel and EHR experience preferred
