Position Title: Library Media Specialist
Department: Library Media
Reports To: Director Technology & Library Media Services
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Develop a collection of print and non-print resources.
- Provide access to on and off site resources using print and non-print media.
- Build a positive attitude in students toward the access use and communication of information and ideas for problem solving and lifelong learning.
- Provide instruction and assistance to students faculty and community in defining their information needs accessing resources and using technology.
- Deliver introduction / orientation programs to staff and students.
- Work with teachers and administrators in translating curriculum and assessment needs into the Library Media Centers goals and objectives.
- Provide expertise in the selection and evaluation of materials and technology for the delivery of information and instruction.
- Establish and maintain circulation policies.
- Maintain vertical file and periodical collection.
- Develop and produce bibliographies for students and faculty.
- Organize supervise volunteers interns and other non-professional staff in the library media center.

- Strong commitment to collaborative / team teaching service learning performance-based assessment small group and individual advisement values education.
- Experience preferred.
- Willingness to develop new non-traditional curricula model the values exposed by the school collaborate in decision-making with parents and students engage in service activities.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours and / or school year.
- Interest in working in new and meaningful ways with students parents and the community.
Qualifications
- Valid or current certificate required by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
