With several different meeting spaces The Inn at Ole Miss hosts a variety of both university and private sector events each year. Those events range from small board meetings to formal galas of 300 or more people. Through our hospitality we have developed partnerships across the community and campus that ensure groups come back year after year.

Role Summary

Supports service delivery for events using established policies and procedures in order to meet customer need and ensure event compliance with institutional policy and conference guidelines.

This position assists with the implementation of special events. With direction from event coordinators and managers this person would be responsible for setup and breakdown of events greeting clients and ensuring all needs are met and guiding student workers to assist as needed.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Assists and oversees the preparation organization setup and breakdown of special events.
  • Prepares in-house snack and beverage services for events.
  • Coordinates with vendors to ensure timeliness of arrival/setup.
  • Maintains inventory and orders supplies as necessary.
  • Ensures equipment is properly maintained and organized.
  • Acts as the point of contact for clients at the time of their event.
  • Oversees student workers and delegates tasks as necessary.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include but are not limited to the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Schedules logistics and secures resources for all aspects of events including space vendors and staff.
2. Coordinates details and resolves operational issues.
3. Greets customers/guests assists with registration answers questions refers complex issues to appropriate entities.
4. Maintains and updates departmental inventory.
