Job Summary
The Mental Health Practitioner is responsible for providing mental health services to clients. This includes the following; mental health screenings diagnostic assessments individualized treatment plans individual mental health psycho-therapy and completing all documentation and billing of clients records in accordance with MN Statutes for Mental Health Chapter 245I Mental Health Uniform Service Standards Act.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify and understand mental health conditions and disorders.
- Collaborate with clients to develop a treatment plan based on specific needs and goals of client.
- Provide individual psychotherapy utilizing evidence-based practices and help clients develop coping skills to improve overall mental health and psychological wellbeing.
- Provide co-occurring group therapy consisting of psychoeducation process and skills-based interventions.
- Collaborate with providers for medication management.
- Responsible for complying with federal and state statutes upholding ethical standards established and implied by the profession DHS rules and regulations etc.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and billing per MN Statute Sec. 245I.08.
- Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings and mental health consult meetings to review and update client progress notes.
- Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with client referrals.
- Facilitate crisis intervention to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients.
Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications):
Must be able to meet specific mental health practitioner qualifications and scope of practice outlined in Minnesota Statutes 245I.04 Provider Qualifications and Scope of Practice required qualifications include:
- Masters degree in behavioral sciences or related field; and has at least 2000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of mental health services to individuals with mental illness or a substance use disorder; or has at least 4000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of mental health services to individuals with mental illness or substance use disorder; or meet the Clinical Trainee qualifications (MN State Statute 245I.04.06); and has completed an accredited graduate program of study to prepare the staff person for independent licensure as a mental health professional.
- Currently in the process of obtaining MN state licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Psychologist (LP).
- Ability to learn new technology while gaining proficiency in EMR/EHRs; gain proficiency in new technologies.
- At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
- Must be comfortable working with people with life-controlling challenges including mental health and addiction.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to effectively manage time.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients staff and leadership.
- The ability to live and work by MnTCs culture of honor & core values practicing compassion honor respect integrity servanthood and trust.
- Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations
- Ability to exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions and to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm consistent and compassionate manner.
