Summary of Job Function
The Tax Principal will play an integral role in driving the continued growth of our dynamic firm. This leadership position is for a highly experienced tax professional with deep subject matter expertise in trusts and estates. The role focuses on delivering impactful solutions to high-net-worth clients and their families building long-term trusted relationships and mentoring and developing a high-performing team.
Essential Job Duties
- Lead engagement teams through preparation and review of high-net worth individual estates and trust tax returns (Formsand 709) with a strong focus on ensuring accuracy and compliance within these complex areas.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of complex tax issues especially those pertaining to high-net-worth individuals and estates and provide clear and concise written conclusions and recommendations.
- Act as a strategic advisor to clients by recommending proactive tax planning estate planning and wealth transfer strategies.
- Remain current on changes in tax laws regulations and industry trends to ensure compliance and provide proactive solutions to clients.
- Ability to manage client relationships ensuring timely communication and maintain high standards of client service and satisfaction.
- Oversee and mentor team members providing guidance training and constructive feedback to foster professional growth.
- Possess comprehensive fiduciary law experience with the ability to guide clients through complex legal and tax considerations in the gift estate and trust space.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively especially during peak tax seasons ensuring that both client and firm expectations are met.
- Develop and maintain trusted client relationships providing leadership and support to ensure the delivery of comprehensive tax services.
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives and collaborate with other practice areas to provide integrated services.
- Contribute to the overall leadership of the tax service line including developing goals strategies and processes to drive success across the practice.
Education and Experience:
- BS/BA in Tax Accountancy or related concentration.
- Masters degree in Tax or Accountancy or related field is a plus.
- CPA or EA certification.
- Minimum 10 years of recent experience in gift estate and trust tax compliance with a proven ability to lead and develop client relationships.
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to interact with colleagues managers partners and clients at all levels.
- Detail-oriented with a collaborative approach to team projects and the ability to work independently when required.
- Possess exceptional organizational skills and the capacity to handle a high-volume workload.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products especially Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a technology-driven paperless environment.
- Experience with the CCH Suite of Products including Pro-Fx Tax Document Portal.
