As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho we are seeking Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist. The EHS Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise implementation and management on occupational safety industrial hygiene ergonomics environmental compliance and sustainability programs as well as helping develop and manage the environmental management (ISO14001) and occupational health& safety management (ISO45001) systems for the QuidelOrtho facility in Memphis TN. The EHS Specialist will have site responsibility for Warehouse Distribution Operations Facilities/Engineering Quality and Procurement and will be expected to work across multiple functions including administrative support services. The EHS Specialist will provide the company leadership by working across various environmental health and safety disciplines.
This position is in Memphis TN
Responsible for leading the occupational safety ergonomics industrial hygiene environmental compliance and environmental sustainability programs; evaluate plan and implement EHS program components including the development and delivery of training materials and written procedures; perform accident investigations and emergency response planning.
Develop EHS policies and programs for occupational safety industrial hygiene ergonomics and/or environmental programs consistent with regulatory requirements and QuidelOrtho EHS standards.
Provide leadership and technical expertise to implement EHS management systems and receive ISO14001 and ISO45001 certifications for the site.
Develop and execute a comprehensive EHS risk mitigation strategy and culture transformation for the site focusing on risk assessments targeted risk reduction training communication etc. Partner with site leadership to ensure all significant EHS risks are identified assesses and the appropriate risk control measures are implemented maintained and monitored.
Develop and execute environmental sustainability strategy for the site and work cross-functionally across QuidelOrtho to implement environmental sustainability initiatives.
Provide EHS supplier oversight for third party logistics distribution center.
Implement and manage EHS and project action plans provide technical support to ensure corporate business and site goals are met.
Facilitate and lead compliance audits internal audits EHS management system audits and routine inspections.
Manage nonconformances lead and/or participate as the EHS representative in external audits and inspections by local government agencies.
Ensure all records are properly maintained and reports are prepared/submitted in a timely manner.
Support multi-site projects and process improvement initiatives across the QuidelOrtho as needed develop and report site EHS metrics and key performance indicators.
Responsible for leading and managing EHS projects as needed.
Lead Emergency Services Teams.
Lead EHS Committee.
Perform work-related duties as assigned.
Required
Bachelors Degree in any discipline or an equivalent combination of work experience and education will be considered.
3 years of experience in Occupational Safety Environmental Compliance and/or Industrial Hygiene
Occasional travel up to 5% (when needed) Domestic / International
Ability to work outside of normal business hours to help assist with permitted work for shutdown activities (confined space crane lift etc.) emergency situations and/or to accommodate warehouse distribution operations schedule (holiday weekend off-shift) as required.
Preferred:
Degree in Occupational Safety Chemistry Environmental Science Industrial Hygiene or related disciplines.
Knowledge of OSHA (Occupational Health & Safety) EPA and state regulations and on a local state and federal level.
Technical knowledge of occupational safety and environmental program components including EHS Management Systems (ISO14001 & ISO45001)
Experience in identifying evaluating and controlling environmental health and safety risks in the workplace.
Excellent influencing planning organizational and time management skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills such as public speaking.
Intermediate to expert MS Office skills (Word Excel and PowerPoint)
Team player be able to work independently and be process oriented.
Experience working with EHS data reporting and tracking systems.
Safety or environmental certifications such as ASP CSP or CHMM.

The work environment characteristics are representative of a warehouse distribution environment and in the event of damaged or broken finished products the handling of biological materials (blood pathogens) and potentially hazardous chemicals. Up to 40% of the time desk (extended period of sitting) and 60% of the time standing or extended periods of time on the warehouse floor/facility mobility (ex: bending climbing ladders etc.) and the ability to lift up to 30lbs. Flexible work hours to help warehouse distribution operations; will be expected to have a level of availability outside of normal business hours to help assist with permitted work for shutdown activities (confined space crane lift etc.) emergency situations and/or to accommodate warehouse distribution operations schedule (holiday weekend off-shift) at the site as required.
