Berklee College of Music is looking for a Police Sergeant who is passionate about safety service and leadership in a dynamic creative campus environment. This is a key role in Berklees Public Safety teamone that supports our vibrant global community of artists creators and innovators by fostering a secure and welcoming atmosphere.
About the Role
The Police Sergeant is the first line of supervision leading day-to-day campus police operations with professionalism and care. This role is responsible for mentoring and guiding officers ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and engaging with students faculty and staff in a supportive student-centered manner. Reporting to the Police Lieutenant the Sergeant serves as a leader problem-solver and connectorstrengthening relationships across the Berklee community and beyond.
Key responsibilities include:
Supervising and evaluating the performance of sworn officers and dispatch personnel
Overseeing training scheduling reporting and investigations
Responding to service calls and sensitive community concerns with empathy and efficiency
Fostering a positive team culture that reflects Berklees values of inclusivity creativity and collaboration
Promoting best practices in campus law enforcement and staying current with evolving trends in public safety
Who Were Looking For
Berklee seeks a thoughtful and experienced public safety professional who brings:
3 years of full-time sworn law enforcement experience
An associate degree in Criminal Justice (or bachelors in any field preferred)
Massachusetts POST certification and MPTC academy completion
A valid Massachusetts drivers license and LTC
CPR/First Aid certification
Proven leadership skills excellent judgment and the ability to stay calm under pressure
This is a highly visible role that requires discretion integrity and a strong commitment to community policing within a diverse academic environment.
