Position Summary:

The Solutions Center is meant to serve as a one stop shop for students employees and guests at the University of Lynchburg. This position is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective delivery of information and problem resolution for students across a range of administrative and support services including University Registrar Financial Aid and Student Accounts.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a welcoming attitude and presence and positively represent the Solutions Center and the University of Lynchburg
  • Respond to visitors phone calls and other inquiries in a courteous and helpful manner (strong emphasis on providing quality customer service)
  • Oversee the Solutions Center departmental email providing a response to all inquiries within 24-48 business hours
  • Have a working knowledge of campus resources so as to provide information and referrals
  • Assist in daily office operations (i.e. computer work making copies running errands etc.)
  • Develop opportunities to engage with current students and employees in highlighting the Solutions Center and resources available
  • Assist students in accessing MyHive student self-service portal (i.e. registration academic records financial aid payments)
  • Counsel prospective and currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students regarding scholarships and the various federal state and institutional financial aid programs offered
  • Provide support for student billing and student payment services in person by phone and through written correspondence
  • Assist with completion of transcript requests enrollment verification and address change requests
  • Filing including work with confidential records
  • Frequent use of Docs Sheets Forms and other Google Suite software
  • Data entry and analysis
  • Assist with office set up and/or organization
  • Fulfill other tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum (1) year of customer service experience or evidence of strong interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to speak and write effectively attention to detail ability to proofread
  • Computer proficiency with word processing spreadsheets etc.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well as part of a team
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Detail-oriented approach to the position

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree
  • Two (2) years or more of customer service related experience
  • Experience in a higher education setting and/or experience with finance student accounts and/or financial aid
  • Working knowledge of or the ability to learn and use database applications and other systems or applications that may be used within the University or division is also preferred

  • Computer printer office phone cell phone copier/scanner

Working Conditions:

  • The functions of this position are usually performed sitting with some standing. Some tasks may involve walking stooping kneeling bending lifting or carrying. Tasks such as working at a computer keyboard involve extensive wrist and hand movements.
  • The normal work schedule is 37.5 hours per week with possible evening and/or weekend hours as needed..
