You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailEduTalent Group are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a specialist education provider in Surrey for a committed and enthusiastic Literacy Intervention Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time term-time only role supporting learners across a multi-site setting including a dedicated Arts & Media Centre.
As the Literacy Intervention TA you will play a vital role in raising reading attainment for learners with additional needs including those with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties (SpLD). Working both one-to-one and in small groups you will deliver structured evidence-based intervention programmes such as Fresh Start and Read Write Inc to support reading phonics comprehension and spelling. You will collaborate closely with class teachers and the English department to plan track and evaluate student progress.
You ll bring a student-centred approach a commitment to inclusive education and the confidence to adapt support to meet a range of literacy needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in SEND and literacy development to make a meaningful impact in a nurturing and creative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality reading phonics and comprehension interventions using Fresh Start Read Write Inc and NGRT assessment data
Support pre- in- and post-class literacy learning for individuals and small groups
Work collaboratively with class teachers to adapt teaching materials and ensure inclusive access to literacy content.
Use data and observations to assess progress update individual action plans (IEPs) and report outcomes to parents and key professionals
Train and support colleagues in implementing whole-school reading initiatives
Cover English or literacy-based lessons for small groups when required
Promote a culture of reading and literacy across the curriculum
Provide a nurturing structured and resilience-building environment for learners with SpLD and/or EHCPs
Ensure safeguarding policies are upheld and contribute to a safe and positive learning climate
Monitor review and share intervention outcomes with teaching staff and the wider team.
Support the development of reading as a whole-school priority
Degree-level qualification
GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
Experience supporting young people in an educational setting
Ability to deliver structured interventions and adapt support to meet diverse literacy needs
Strong understanding of safeguarding and willingness to follow safeguarding protocols
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style
Clear confident communication with students staff and families
Full enhanced DBS
Desirable:
QTS or teaching qualification
Experience supporting students with SpLD dyslexia or SEND
Previous small-group or intervention teaching experience
Experience delivering CPD or leading on literacy support.
Evidence of embedding reflective practice and using data to inform teaching
Working knowledge of Fresh Start Read Write Inc and/or similar phonics programmes
