Job Description Summary

The faculty will serve as the Internship and Career Development Coordinator. This position plays a critical role in ensuring students are prepared for success in the healthcare industry by providing structured career counseling professional development and internship placement services. This position is essential to meeting accreditation requirements related to career advising and student support by establishing a consistent formalized and measurable approach to career development. The Coordinator will work closely with faculty employers and students to ensure that career services are accessible impactful and continuously assessed as part of the departments commitment to continuous improvement.

Job Description

Career Counseling and Student Support 30%

  • Develop and implement a structured career advising framework that ensures all students have access to career counseling job search assistance interview skill training and professional development resources.
  • Create individualized career development plans for students providing structured pathways to industry certifications job placement and long-term career growth.
  • Maintain detailed records of student career counseling sessions tracking progress and outcomes to demonstrate a systematic approach to career advising.
  • Establish touchpoints for career advising across the student lifecycle (e.g. onboarding mid-program and pre- graduation career assessments).

Internship Placement Coordination 40%

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare organizations to secure structured internship opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with the Chair and faculty to align internship or capstone opportunities with academic program goals.
  • Facilitate the internship placement process including screening matching and preparing students for successful internships.
  • Monitor and evaluate internship site experiences to ensure quality and compliance with department standards.

Collaboration and Outreach 10%

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure career advising complements academic advising by providing professional development career coaching and job placement support.
  • Represent the department at career fairs recruitment events and networking opportunities to enhance student exposure to industry professionals.
  • Serve as a liaison between students employers and faculty to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Arrange recruitment or information sessions with employers
  • Engagement and coordination with Health Administration Alumni Network

Participate in the development and promotion of the scholarship of teaching and learning - 10%

  • Work with the instructional design team to conduct scholarship and/or research in support of CHP educational in leadership and service within professional organizations appropriate with the individuals expertise and training.

Accreditation and Continuous Improvement 5%

  • Work with leadership to ensure that career advising services are systematically evaluated using student feedback and outcome data to inform continuous improvement.
  • Work with internship preceptors to ensure student competency development and assessment.
  • Develop an annual career services report to assess the effectiveness of career advising internship placement and employer engagement aligning with accreditation standards.

Program Evaluation and Reporting 5%

  • Develop implement and document a structured career advising and support services plan to ensure students receive formalized career guidance throughout their program.
  • Regularly assess career counseling effectiveness through student feedback employer evaluations and employment outcomes.
  • Compile career advising and internship placement data into reports for accreditation compliance and program review purposes.
