A DAY IN THE LIFE

Enthalpy Analytical is part of the larger organization Montrose Environmental Group is comprised of over 9 laboratories servicing air water soil and toxicology testing. Regulations drive the need for our services but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance safety and operational efficiency of two facilities in close proximity with occasional travel to service centers as required. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership capabilities to ensure a safe functional and welcoming environment. This role requires a hands-on approach strategic problem-solving and the ability to foster positive relationships with vendors and stakeholders. The Facilities Manager must be available for on-call duties after hours and on weekends to address emergencies and ensure operational continuity. While the role currently has no direct reports there may be opportunities to manage staff in the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facility Operations & Maintenance: Oversee the daily operations of building systems (HVAC electrical plumbing roofing etc.) across two facilities in close proximity ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment and facilities at both locations.
  • Project Management: Plan and execute facility-related projects including renovations upgrades and repairs while managing budgets timelines and vendor contracts for both sites.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations including OSHA standards and maintain a safe working environment through regular inspections proper tool handling chemical storage and hazardous waste management.
  • Vendor Coordination: Serve as the key point of contact for all building and equipment purchases installations inspections and repairs; negotiate and manage contracts with vendors (e.g. janitorial landscaping maintenance services) for both locations ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with management on facility planning and budgeting monitor and control facility-related expenses for both sites and provide cost-saving recommendations.
  • Facility Records: Maintain accurate facility records update maintenance notes schedules safety records security access badges/keys and property management relationships.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Implement energy-efficient and environmentally friendly practices to reduce operational costs and environmental impact across both facilities.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency preparedness plans responding promptly to facility-related emergencies or incidents including during after-hours and weekend on-call duties.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasionally travel to service centers as needed to oversee maintenance inspections or projects ensuring consistent standards across all sites. Estimated travel approximately 20% for once per quarter if needed
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal departments and external partners attend meetings and participate in required committees to support organizational goals and maintain a positive professional image.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of facilities management experience with demonstrated ability to manage multiple locations independently.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED certificate; Bachelors degree in facilities management engineering business administration or a related field preferred.
  • Core Trades:
    • Experience with HVAC systems including troubleshooting repair and maintenance.
    • Proficiency in roofing maintenance and repairs.
    • Knowledge of plumbing systems including pipe maintenance leak detection and water system repairs.
    • Proficiency in electrical/lighting systems including wiring circuit maintenance and compliance with electrical codes.
    • General handyman/carpentry skills for structural and aesthetic facility needs
  • General Skills:
    • Familiarity with common cleaning products and equipment.
    • General construction and/or prior facilities maintenance experience (a plus).
    • Building design knowledge (preferred).
    • Strong communication skills for coordinating with vendors reporting to leadership and engaging with stakeholders.
    • Mechanical skills for basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
    • Attention to detail and strong time-management skills.
  • Certifications: Familiarity with OSHA regulations energy management systems or sustainability certifications is a plus.
  • Availability: Must be available for on-call responsibilities after hours and on weekends to address emergencies and ensure operational continuity.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel occasionally to service centers as required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds climbing ladders and conducting site inspections at both facilities and service centers
  • Drivers License: Valid drivers license required
