Position Summary: The Director of Development - Industry Relations aligns with the corporate engagement priority set by NDSUs President. This individual holds the responsibility for planning activities and determining effective strategies designed to maximize corporate support of university philanthropic priorities. The DOD-IR engages with and supports faculty program directors deans and other campus leaders to secure funding from corporations for university programs projects and initiatives. The Director develops and manages relationships with internal campus partners and with corporations; supports faculty and campus leaders on proposals and reports; explores funding opportunities; collaborates with development colleagues to identify promising projects; and helps manage the corporate fundraising pipeline and calendar. The Directors portfolio includes many of the campuss most complex and important corporate partners. A primary focus of this position will be developing corporate engagement strategies while cultivating new relationships with corporations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Designs implements and manages a comprehensive and proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate relationships that mutually benefits North Dakota State University and corporations.
- Manages a portfolio of approximately 15-25 strategically aligned industry partners
- Identifies cultivates and solicits philanthropic commitments of $25000 to support the mission and goals of the University
- Works closely with events & programs development officers and university representatives (i.e. career services RCA colleges etc.) to create opportunities to build awareness among corporate constituencies in order to significantly expand fundraising relationships
- Advises faculty administrators and staff on areas of interest to corporations initiates opportunities for faculty administrators and deans to interact with corporate prospects and interprets corporate and foundation interests to university constituents
- Engages faculty program directors campus leadership and funding partners to create strategies and programs or projects that align with the Universitys priorities and corporations interests.
- Develops highly competitive proposals for corporate prospects leveraging diverse corporate goals and preferences in conjunction with university goals in collaboration with creative services and key partners.
- Primary liaison with the Office of Research and Creative Activity (RCA) to ensure the timely and appropriate processing of proposals letters of intent and reports
- Creates moves management plans and maintains a rigorous schedule of contacts with corporate representatives
- Maintains high quality stewardship for active corporate prospects and donors maintains detailed records of solicitation activities and ensures that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful partnerships

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelors degree
- Minimum of five years related experience in corporate/foundation relations or higher education fundraising
- Experience in creating and executing strategic plans or a relatable skill
- Strong analytical skills
- High level of integrity dependability and sound judgment
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to building teams and fostering a best place to work culture

- Willingness and ability to travel
Preferred Qualifications: - Masters or other advanced degree
- Strong background in a higher education environment from an institutionally related foundation setting
- CFRE certification or similar professional certification designation
Physical and Mental Demands: Constantly operates a computer/smartphone/tablet. Regularly required to maintain a stationary position move about the office determine what others have said or written critical thinking and converse with others and exchange accurate information. Regularly required to sit stand bend reach and move about the office and within the community. May also include occasional bending stooping squatting and/or pushing and pulling or moving objects. Occasionally required to move raise reach and/or retrieve binders books boxes and files up to ten (10) pounds.
