Job Description

** This is a one year contract position from Septemberthis position offers full benefits and an opportunity for extension.**

The TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS) programidentifies and supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. As an early intervention initiative ETS helps low-income and first-generation youth navigate their educational journey by providing academic guidance college application support and up-to-date information on scholarships and financial aid.

About the Role
The TRIO ETS Program Coordinatorplays a key role in developing and implementing academic preparation services for 9th12th grade students. With a strong background in K-14 academic preparation the Program Coordinator is responsible for planning executing and managing day-to-day TRIO services at their assigned school site. They also work closely with their supervisor to ensure compliance with federal guidelines while addressing student needs and advancing grant objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver student-focused ETS activities and services aligned with grant objectives: (1) Support students in persisting through high school (2) Increase high school graduation rates (3) Promote completion of a rigorous secondary school program (A-G coursework) (4) Facilitate immediate postsecondary enrollment after high school and (5) Encourage postsecondary degree completion within six years.
  • Administer the ETS program in compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations and TRIO guidelines
  • Maintain accurate participant records oversee data collection and support annual reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with partner schools community organizations and stakeholders to identify and recruit program participants
  • Engage in professional development to stay informed on evolving educational policies and systems
Location & Schedule
This position is 100% on-siteat Deer Valley High School in Antioch CA with occasional work at UCSFs Mission Center. Some evenings and weekends may be required.


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $65600 - $98400 (Annual Rate).

  • 3 years of professional experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers (Post BA/BS Degree)
  • Strong knowledge of high school graduation requirements and undergraduate entrance requirements
  • Knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC CSU CC etc.) admissions and financial aid requirements and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth parents and school representatives
  • Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory including issues facing low-income first generation urban youth
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness with respect to race ethnicity and socio-economic status
  • Strong communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators school counselors principals teachers and community contacts
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with common computer software programs sufficient to complete assignments (e-mail Word Excel Internet searches Canva etc.)
  • Demonstrate organizational and program coordination skills including the ability to set priorities and work on several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team


    • Masters degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training or a combination of education and/or experience working with high school students
    • Strong knowledge of and familiarity with collecting data and using spreadsheets
