Indigenous Justice Services

Volunteer & Community Engagement Navigator

1 Full Time Vacancy


SUMMARY:


The Indigenous Justice Services (IJC) Volunteer & Community Engagement Navigator is responsible for the planning implementation and administration of the TBIFC Justice Services volunteer and community engagement strategy. This includes the recruitment training day-to-day interaction and ongoing support of all Justice Service volunteers Council Members Elders Knowledge Carriers and service users. This position will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan implement and coordinate services and support in consultation with individuals and partnering programs.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:



  1. Preferred post-secondary education in Volunteer Management and Social Services; minimum of two years experience with volunteer engagement coordination and administration; knowledge of applicable legislation including AODA OHSA OHRC etc.
  2. Knowledge and experience with service supports community resources referral processes.
  3. Knowledge and experience with community coordination and system navigation.
  4. Strong facilitation and experience with implementing training initiatives.
  5. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and experience working with Indigenous persons; understanding of the northern cultural environment; knowledge of Indigenous language(s) will be considered an asset.
  6. Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  7. Excellent case and file management skills stress and time management skills.
  8. Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communication skills; excellent interviewing and navigation skills.
  9. Strong facilitation and presentation skills; experience implementing orientation for volunteers.
  10. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  11. Ability to problem solve and take initiative; effective crisis intervention skills.
  12. Proficiency in Microsoft Word including database applications.
  13. Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented setting.
  14. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and/or weekends.
  15. Valid First Aid / CPR Certificate.
  16. Must have a valid Ontario drivers license and reliable transportation.
  17. A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Clearance is a condition of employment.

Salary: $50000.00 / annum
