Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of STAR Resource Coordinator - At Promise. The STAR Resource Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting all students at Nevada State University by connecting them with campus resources and fostering a strong sense of belonging. This position focuses on holistic student support recognizing the influence of family dynamics financial considerations and social well-being on academic success. The Coordinator builds strong relationships with students connects them to campus and community resources and contributes to a welcoming and inclusive campus culture. This role also supports STAR student networks through collaborative programming family engagement and initiatives that promote belonging heritage awareness and well-being. The Coordinator works closely with campus partners to create a connected support system that centers students lived experiences and empowers them to thrive at Nevada State.

Primary Responsibilities:

Student Support & Resource Connection:

  • Support students within STAR networks through targeted guidance and resource connection.
  • Design and lead student-ready programming that connect student networks to key resources like advising wellness financial aid and career exploration.
  • Provide targeted support that helps students thrive from start to graduation.

STAR and Campus Collaboration:

  • Lead programs and events that foster academic success wellness and student leadership within student networks.
  • Collaborate with STAR and campus partners to proactively support all students by fostering awareness encouragement and timely connection to resources that reflect a student-ready approach.

Family & Community Engagement:

  • Engage families through outreach workshops and resource sharing.
  • Create resources that help families support their students throughout their college journey.

Campus Resource Connection:

  • Connect students to campus services and advocate for student-ready policies and practices.
  • Design and implement initiatives and programming that celebrate and foster belonging across all student communities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution in Higher Education Student Affairs education counseling or related field.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse nontraditional first-generation student population.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in higher education student affairs advising counseling or related field.
  • Masters degree in Higher Education Student Affairs education counseling or related field.
  • Commitment to student-ready equity-minded support practices.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and connecting them to resources.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Background in student programming advising or student engagement.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and departments.

Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary for this position is $52197. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits including 17.50% retirement match 24 annual leave days beginning balance of 30 sick leave days 12 paid holidays educational benefits and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
