About the Role

Melba Support Services are seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to join a Supported Independent Living home in Moe Victoria on a permanent part-time basis. This is a dynamic sleepover model home supporting 5 individuals with complex support needs on a rotating fortnightly roster.

Working closely with a dedicated team you will support residents with a range of daily living activities including personal care medication management and household tasks. Youll play a key role in promoting independence enhancing wellbeing and supporting meaningful participation in community and home life.

The people living in this home require specialised support including behaviour support support with mental health diabetes and medication support such as the use of PRN.

Responsibilities

  • Implement support plans based on supported persons needs preferences and interests
  • Help with all aspects of daily living from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night
  • Aid people to get to their chosen activities like social events work and appointments
  • Promote personal choice and control for the person
  • Assist with personal care hygiene and household duties such as cleaning cooking and washing
  • Administer medication

Qualifications and Experience

  • Cert 4 of Disability or equivalent qualification (Highly advantageous)
  • Experience with complex behaviours
  • Experience with psychosocial and neurological disabilities preferred
  • Experience with manual handling
  • A passion for enabling and working with people
  • Desire for meaningful work and comfortable providing people with daily living support
  • Willingness to learn new skills undertake ongoing training
  • Willingness to work as part of a team

You will also bring with you or be willing to obtain*

  • NDIS Worker screening Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Unrestricted Australian Drivers License
  • Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status including booster
  • Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
