Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide leadership and oversight for district-wide initiatives related to student discipline attendance and the student transfer process. Supervise attendance strategies to improve student engagement and reduce truancy through early identification and targeted supports. Ensure consistent implementation of policies and procedures that support a safe equitable and orderly learning environment. Coordinate and monitor discipline management practices to align with legal requirements and district goals while supporting campuses in implementing effective behavior interventions. Responsible for the oversight of the following: Principals Assistant Principals Fine Arts and Counselors and T-PESS.

Assist in addressing and resolving student and parent concerns by facilitating hearings mediating conflicts and ensuring timely respectful communication. Serve as a liaison between families campuses and district departments to promote resolution of issues in a manner that upholds student rights and fosters trust and transparency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification

Masters Degree

Mid-Management Certification Principal or

Principal as an Instructional Leader

Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System

Certification T-TESS

Superintendent Certification (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills

Knowledge of laws regulations and policies related to student discipline and attendance

Knowledge of positive discipline support programs

Ability to disseminate information to individuals and groups

Ability to interpret policies procedures and laws

Ability to deliver effective training to a variety of audiences

Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to mediate problem solve and resolve conflict

Experience

Three to five years of experience in a principal or district leadership role

Practical experience in program supervision; Campus leadership experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Student Discipline Management

1. Manage the districts admissions transfer discipline and residency process.

2. Coordinate the districtwide anti-bullying and character education programs.

3. Review update and publish the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

4. Assist campus administrators with fair and consistent administration of discipline policies and discretionary disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) placements.

5. Monitor discipline trends and work with campus administrators to develop campus discipline improvement plans to address student needs in the areas of attendance and discipline.

6. Address parent concerns related to discipline and campus administrative decisions.

7. Conduct thorough impartial investigations.

8. Develop and present training to campus administrators regarding student discipline and Texas Education Code Chapter 37.

Community Relations

9. Develop and maintain programs that work to strengthen home/school connections.

10. Work with community agencies to support positive behavioral choices for students and positive consequences.

11. Support parent referrals to outside agencies for assistance.

Student Attendance

12. Work with campus administrators to recognize attendance trends and concerns.

13. Ensure timely notification to parents regarding concerns with student attendance.

14. Support campus administrators and parents in following truancy laws.

Personnel Management

15. Confer regularly with assigned staff to discuss performance and jointly develop objectives to identify personal growth opportunities.

16. Work with building principals in the assignment and reassignment of staff members.

17. Oversee the T-PESS appraisal system for the district.

Administration

18. Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required including auditable accounting records.

19. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise evaluate and recommend the hiring and firing Principals Assistant Principals Fine Arts and Counselors

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; high stress

fast-paced. Use standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting. Repetitive

hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional

light lifting and carrying (less than 5 pounds). Frequent districtwide travel; occasional

statewide travel.
