Workforce Development Director

About Cultivate Initiatives:

We are a group of people who work alongside those on the margins to empower individuals and communities through an inclusive range of initiatives and support. We build communities from the inside out through workforce development housing and homemaking and supportive sheltering.



About Department: Through our Workforce Development initiative we are creating opportunities for our community members to re-enter the workforce. This initiative includes Community Beautification the Intern Program Property Stewardship and Showers & Hygiene. Most people involved in this initiative have been unemployed and unhoused for an extended period. These are people who want to give back to their community - to give to the people who helped them and give to those they know are still hurting. We are thrilled to support them by offering short-term and long-term work opportunities and a wide variety of support. Through these opportunities individuals acquire new skills and build confidence in their work.



Compensation/Benefits:

  • $72000-80000 annually depending on experience

Accountability:

  • To Director of Initiatives & Programs

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises three program managers

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Workforce Development Initiative and all programs within the Initiative.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement process of programs services and support in conjunction with the Director Team to meet all program and funding goals.
  • Provide supervisory support and high-level oversight for Workforce Development Initiative staff.
  • Facilitate programmatic design implementation and evaluation for programs within the Workforce Development Initiative
  • Support the Development & Relationships Department with grant writing reporting and other funding needs within the Workforce Development Initiative
  • Meet regularly with the Finance Director to prepare annual program budgets and ensure proper budget expenditures.
  • Work alongside Contract Compliance & Database Administrator to facilitate completion accuracy and consistency of data and compliance.
  • Work with Human Resources to support staff and uphold organizational and programmatic polices & procedures.
  • Builds and maintain relationships with various entities that provide employment and fee-for-service contract opportunities
  • Represent Cultivate Initiatives to external constituency groups as needed including community governmental and private organizations.
  • Coaches and supports Program Managers in the interviewing and hiring process
  • Conduct annual and ongoing performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Approves timecards and requests for time off for direct reports and indirect reports when necessary
  • May participate in special projects and activities
  • May perform other duties as requested by the Director of Programs & Initiatives and Executive Director

  • Ability to understand the organizations strategic direction and align the Workforce Development Initiative with that vision.

  • Strong understanding of leadership roles and the significance of power dynamics with the ability to respond to situations with professional supportive and measured awareness.
  • Possess a solution-oriented approach with a high value on teamwork.
  • Apply a lens of equity and inclusion in planning and directing all functional activities.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to a multicultural approach for supporting an equitable diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Highly effective communicator and active listener with a keen ability to adapt appropriately to various audiences.
  • Ability to make and communicate hard decisions and have the courage to stay the course.
  • Ability to perform risk assessment and manage risks effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize delegate and manage multiple projects based on importance and urgency.

  • Experience with contract negotiation



Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed primarily indoors with some staff support requiring occasional work outdoors.
  • Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels from quiet offices to louder industrial settings.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Work requires the ability to perform repetitive movements of the wrist hands or fingers due to continuous use of computer keyboards and other office equipment.
  • Being physically present in the CI offices from 8:30am 4:30pm Monday - Friday
  • Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or religious exemption
  • Must be able to provide proof of Drivers License
