Job Description

Are you a seasoned compliance professional ready to take the lead in a dynamic highly regulated industry At Huon were seeking an experienced and driven leader to head our Environmental Compliance teama critical role ensuring we meet and exceed complex regulatory and certification standards.

This is your opportunity to shape the future of environmental compliance in aquaculture working with a company that values integrity accountability and operational excellence.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Governance youll lead a team of six compliance professionals and play a key role in ensuring Huons operations align with all environmental regulations third-party certifications and internal standards. Youll work closely with regulators internal teams and industry bodies to maintain Huons reputation as a responsible and compliant operator. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring a high-performing team fostering a culture of compliance accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring full compliance with environmental regulations licences and third-party certification schemes.
  • Managing internal audits external audits and regulatory reporting to ensure accuracy timeliness and transparency.
  • Overseeing environmental approval processes for new and existing projects ensuring alignment with legislative requirements.
  • Providing strategic commercially aware compliance advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Representing Huon in regulatory and industry forums advocating for practical and effective compliance outcomes.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to strengthen compliance systems and embed best practices across the business.

About You

What Youll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environment Science Business or a related field
  • Proven experience in environmental compliance within aquaculture agriculture or another highly regulated sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team in a compliance-focused environment.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation licensing and certification schemes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills including with regulators and auditors.
  • A pragmatic solutions-focused mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive informed decisions.
