As a member of global E-commerce development team youll play a key role in leading our promotions platform to solve the worlds most complex technical challenges in scalability distributed systems large-scale computing and Web applications just to name a few. Promotions systems are responsible for creating messaging and calculating discounts for promotional campaigns for all Amazon websites world-wide as well as those of our e-commerce partners. Our systems are invoked by website shopping applications hundreds of millions of times each day! Retail Promotions is hiring a Principal technical program manager to own part of our global business. Youll own technical programs and solutions across three teams in PXS - Pittsburgh Seattle and Berlin.
Key job responsibilities
1) Own successful delivery of large high impact and highly cross-functional product initiatives while simultaneously and accurately tracking a set of smaller projects
2) Drive strategic cross-functional planning leading discovery and prioritization by closely partnering with product managers and engineering leads to develop program plans that include roadmaps dependency identifications and resourcing plans
3) Ascertain the true requirements underlying feature requests; recommend alternative technical approaches and lead engineering efforts to meet required timelines
4) Communicate clearly and effectively to executive management on plans status and critical issues
5) Partner as a technical liaison between product and engineering teams
- 7 years of technical product or program management experience
- 10 years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5 years of software development experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Bachelors Degree
- 8 years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
