The Seattle Vaccine Trials Unit (VTU) part of the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Divisionimplements an array of studies researching HIV and other infectious diseases. The VTU collaborates with study sponsors conducting clinical trials designed to test the safety and efficacy of preventive HIV vaccines.
Located in Seattles First Hill neighborhood the VTU is responsible for the recruitment selection and enrollment of local study volunteers. Since opening in 1987 the Seattle VTU has educated and worked with local community members who are interested in participating in research. We collaborate with many community-based organizations such asAfrican American Reach and Teach MinistriesEntre HermanosLGBTQ Center POCAAN and Lifelong.
Together with the help of our volunteers we hope to end the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
The Seattle HIV Vaccine Trials Unit is seeking committed outgoing persons to join our community outreach Outreach Specialist I/II is a part-time position. The ideal candidates must be available for meetings and have a flexible schedule including work on weekdays nights and weekends. Anticipated hours are roughly 10-15 hrs/week including one 2-hour meeting and 1-2 shifts per week. Other administrative projects may be assigned as needed.
The Outreach Specialists primary responsibilities will be to recruit participants for our groundbreaking HIV studies including preventive HIV vaccine studies with people who do not have HIV and other clinical trials that may include People Living with HIV (PLWH). Study recruitment efforts will focus on the needs of the research protocol; in general studies may include people who are 18-50 years old with an emphasis on diverse populations. The Outreach Specialist will be responsible for identifying events and locations to recruit study volunteers including outreach in local venues such as street locations community events community-based organizations as well as bars and clubs. Work will include communication via text email and Microsoft Teams as well as some administrative duties as assigned.

Outreach Specialist I: The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
Outreach Specialist II: The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.78 to $31.01 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
