Acuity is seeking a Director/Manager - Small Commercial to lead the operational direction of Acuitys Small Commercial business. In this role you will develop and implement innovative processes to redefine how Acuity approaches small commercial business. In collaboration with product and actuarial leaders you will drive transformation and enhance our straight-through processing capabilities. This role is pivotal in establishing the foundation and framework for Acuitys future small commercial operations creating scalable systems that support high volume and high velocity work while maintaining profitability and growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive small commercial operation that balances growth profitability and innovation.
- Execute on Acuitys small commercial strategy collaborating with strategy leads actuarial and technology teams to align our offerings and process with market demands.
- Build scalable processes for portfolio underwriting and management establishing appropriate controls and audit mechanisms.
- Collaborate on driving straight-through processing capabilities and establish metrics to track efficiency and effectiveness.
- Bring a customer first approach toward solving problems in the small commercial value chain.
- Build and develop agency relationships across all distribution channels gathering continuous feedback and building partnerships.
- Align on mutually beneficial small commercial targets in partnership with line functions and collaborate with agency leadership to ensure success.
- Own feedback and learnings from the testing and implementation of new technologies models AI solutions and other innovative approaches to small commercial underwriting and processing.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators including combined ratio retention rates straight-through processing percentages and growth metrics.
- Maintain and grow Acuitys partnership approach by developing new relationships with key agency personnel and business leaders in the small commercial space.
- Collaborate with line leaders in stewardship of current agency relationships performance and development.
- Oversee the development of underwriting guidelines that enable both consistency and appropriate flexibility.
- Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous optimization implementing a test-and-learn approach to new initiatives.
- Lead and develop a team of underwriters and processors balancing operational excellence with innovative approaches.
- Analyze portfolio performance and market trends to identify opportunities for product expansion or refinement.
- Create and maintain efficient workflows that maximize productivity while maintaining underwriting integrity.
- Proactively evaluate and pursue potential Insurtech partnerships and technology solutions that enhance small commercial capabilities.
- Highly regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree and extensive experience in commercial insurance operations.
EXPERIENCE:
Several years of commercial lines underwriting experience with demonstrated success in strategic business development and process innovation. Entrepreneurial mindset and aptitude for organizational change required. Ability to lead in a high volume high velocity innovative space.
