Description

The Shire of Derby/West Kimberley is seeking an exceptional leader to fill the role of Director Community Planning. This executive position offers a unique opportunity to influence and drive positive change within our local government. As a vital member of the Executive Leadership Team you will play a key role in shaping workplace culture and providing strategic advice to the CEO. Your leadership will encompass a broad range of services including Waste Management Planning and Building Ranger Services Environmental Health Services Aboriginal Environmental Health Unit Community Safety Youth Services Community Development Events Aquatic & Recreation and Library & Heritage Services.

In this role you will be tasked with fostering innovation and managing cultural change across the Community Planning Directorate. You will develop and implement policies and procedures to meet corporate objectives mentor Directorate Managers and ensure that business plans and budgets are effectively managed. Your responsibilities will include aligning team performance with organisational goals overseeing project delivery and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

Your expertise will be crucial in building strategic partnerships with government departments businesses and community groups. You will lead the development and implementation of community and recreational strategies ensuring that our services meet the diverse needs of our growing community. Additionally you will manage key community assets enhance environmental health standards and ensure effective ranger services to maintain community safety.

Please note that this position is based in Derbywith a base salary range from $160000 - $200000 plus generous allowances (Subject to negotiation up to $46401) housing superannuation (12% & up-to 7% Council matching) and 6 weeks annual leave. Skills And Experiences

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential Skills & Experience

  1. Management and leadership experience at a senior level for at least 5 years.
  2. A proven capacity to deal with complex Planning Development and Regulatory issues including the formulation of appropriate action strategies and to provide high level advice on those issues and corporate implications to the Chief Executive Officer and the Council.
  3. Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to recognise and develop commercial opportunities to fruition.
  4. Well-developed managerial planning organisational and communication skills with the capacity to lead and manage the use and allocation of human and financial resources in a results-oriented environment.
  5. Ability to think outside the box and the proven ability to contribute effectively to the strategic direction of a diverse organisation.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of engaging with the community and negotiating positive outcomes.
  7. Demonstrated advocacy and negotiation skills.
  8. Proven capacities to analyse integrate articulate and contribute to policy development and the conceptualisation of effective change management initiatives.
  9. Highly developed financial management skills in budget preparation and control.
  10. Relevant tertiary qualification.
