On behalf of our esteemed client we are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Supply Chain to lead their production and supply chain operations. This pivotal role will be instrumental in overseeing plant-wide production planning optimising material flow driving efficiency and achieving critical business objectives across their various production facilities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of operational leadership a keen eye for cost optimization and the ability to thrive in a dynamic manually-driven system.
The Head of Supply Chain is responsible for the comprehensive planning and control of all plant-wide production ensuring business targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) like On-Time Delivery (OTD) production volume and shipment goals are consistently met. This role demands total oversight of the production lifecycle and proactive supply chain management.
Key objectives and contributions include:
Production & Operational Oversight: Manage all production-related activities including major machine shutdowns overtime and precise raw material planning (e.g. primary metals key components). Ensure continuous operational efficiency and maximize equipment utilization particularly within manual planning systems.
Inventory & Material Flow Management: Proactively manage material inventory making prompt decisions based on shifts in demand and supply. Closely monitor daily material flow and take immediate action to address unforeseen events always aiming to minimize inventory levels with a high level of supply continuity.
Cost & Lead Time Optimization: Drive continuous efforts to reduce production lead time thereby lowering inventory holding costs and overall operational expenditures. Manage daily changes and shortfalls to meet production and shipment targets and urgent customer requests with minimal cost impact.
Waste Reduction & Recovery: Proactively salvage all Hold for Inspection (HFI) materials utilising available methods and resources to minimize waste and maximize material recovery.
Team Leadership & Development: Coach train and guide all planning staff to optimize planning processes for maximum profitability and waste reduction fostering a highly skilled and efficient team.
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager from time to time.
The ideal candidate for the Head of Supply Chain position will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Education: Bachelors Degree Post Graduate Diploma Professional Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management Engineering (other disciplines) Logistics/Transportation or a related field.
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain or production management.
At least 5 years in a significant managerial capacity.
