What You Will Do:

The Medical Assisting Certificate program is seeking a highly organized Allied Health Program Assistant to support the preparation and implementation of in-person clinical skills labs and other administrative tasks to support student progress towards certification. This is a part-time position ranging 10 20 hours/week.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare the lab area with the clinic materials needed for instructors and students to engage in the lab efficiently.
  • Support skills lab instruction utilizing program instructional plans and ensuring all students have developed the necessary clinical skills.
  • Ensure skills labs run efficiently from student sign-in to closing out and wrapping up (i.e support student sign-in check in with instructors replenish supplies etc
  • Clean up labs and maintain a highly organized well-stocked supply room for the Medical Assisting Program.
  • Set up student accounts in NHA platform monitor student progress issue exam codes and communicate frequently with students about their progress towards certification.
  • Implement key student reminder initiatives including drafting/sending the MA newsletter emailing lab reminders and following up with students who were absent.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associates Degree in Allied Health preferred.
  • Medical Assisting Certification CCMA or RMA required.
  • Two plus (2) years of experience working in the healthcare field including work in a clinical setting medical office or laboratory where clinical skills are necessary.
  • Exceptional Written Communication Skills.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Requirements:

This is a part-time on-campus (18 S Michigan) position. The time commitment will center around students clinical lab dates with additional hours (as determined) for administrative responsibilities.

The salary range of the grade for this position is $23.58 to $33.02 per hour (typical workweek for this part-time position is 10-20 hours per week). Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law including but not limited to: budgetary considerations job-related knowledge/skills experience market considerations tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees) and internal equity.
