The Mechanical Drafters primary function is to use computer-aided drafting software and manual tools to develop mechanical drawings that meet engineering specifications.
Job Duties:
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment tool & dies and controls using computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
- Produce detailed drawings for parts assemblies and weldments.
- Make any necessary changes to existing models or drawings.
- Transforms initial rough product designs or sketches into working models and documents.
- Entering and maintaining engineering data for all physical parts per company and industry standards.
- Create BOMs in excel as per drawings.
- Online research for specifications on purchased parts.
- Collaborate with engineers to help develop concept drawings and details.
- Modify designs based on comments and reviews from management and clients.
- Assist engineer/designer with documentation of sheet metal products.
- Ensure all layouts and designs are compliant with industry codes and standards.
- Work collaboratively with sheet metal production welding engineering and assembly departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work 5 days a week 8am-5pm. (not a remote position)
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Must be able to work independently and part of a team.
- Adaptability to work efficiently and effectively daily under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to use measurement tools such as calipers.
- Excellent technical skills AutoCAD proficiency.
- Strong customer service communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong creative design problem solving critical thinking and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Solidworks a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelors Degree preferred but not required.
- 1 years experience as a Mechanical Drafter preferred.
- Drafting experience in HVAC and Fire Protection systems preferred.
- Must be able to sit stand walk bend push pull twist and turn for long periods of time (Varied based on daily tasks)
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 25 lbs such as files stacks of paper and other materials.
- Strength dexterity coordination and vision to use keyboard and computer monitor for prolonged periods of time.

Hourly Rate: $23-$30/hour
