The Role
We are looking for a Program Manager to join our Responsibility team at Google DeepMind.
This role will provide hands-on Program Management support to the Responsibility Operations Research and Engineering teams. You will work with teams at Google DeepMind to ensure that our work is conducted in line with ethics and safety best practices ensuring the downstream impacts of Google DeepMinds research and its applications are considered.
As a Program Manager you will apply program management methodologies to multiple initiatives balancing progress and risk to deliver sustainable change to meet objectives.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with your team on all required elements of end-to-end project planning and delivery using your knowledge of project methodologies including tools and techniques such as stand ups retrospectives agile boards project plans etc
- Be the trusted owner of the status of your projects. Clearly identify dependencies risks and issues and drive progress and visibility.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and influence action and outcomes without direct authority ensuring alignment among the stakeholders.
- Be highly organized self-motivated and drive process improvements and efficiencies streamlining processes simplify execution and bring tooling efficiencies if applicable.
- Support the drive for engagement across the team by building and maintaining relationships sharing constructive feedback challenging established ways of thinking and inspiring them to achieve their full potential
- Prioritise effectively and evaluate the success of programs against their aims goals and objectives.
- Manage cross-team collaborations and dependencies across the organisation.
About You
In order to set you up for success as a Program Manager at Google DeepMind we look for the following skills and experience:
- Prior experience and expertise in project/program management with the skill to navigate through ambiguity and adjust and adapt plans and strategies as project conditions change
- You are passionate about AGI and demonstrate a curious mindset and a commitment to learning and understanding your teams technical field
- Experience building collaborative environments bridging the gap between researchers engineers and stakeholders ensuring everyone is working towards a shared vision.
- Youre a natural problem-solver readily identifying the root causes of complex challenges to implement elegant solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills ability to develop meaningful relationships with key stakeholders and leverage these to influence action and outcomes
- Experience supporting teams in fast-paced and constantly changing environments acting as a sounding board as individuals go through the change cycle and supporting during challenging times
In addition the following would be an advantage:
- BS degree in Computer Science Engineering or related technical field
- Knowledge or active interest of AI Safety risks
