About the Role:

Solutions is seeking Irrigation Technician & Drainage Technicians to join our Sydney-based Sports Turf team. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated reliable team player. Our projects range from large open spaces and sports field installations to commercial high-rise installations. Candidates with a background in Plumbing/Irrigation Landscaping or Greenkeeping would be well-suited for this role.

• Doohan Reserve sporting complex
• Caddies Creek sporting complex

Irrigation Duties include

• Installation of a new irrigation systems.
• Installation of drainage and water harvesting systems across large complexes
• Irrigation Maintenance and system upkeep
• Diagnose and repair issues within irrigation systems
• Program and adjust irrigation system controllers to ensure proper watering schedules
• Plan and design the layout of pipes and sprinklers to achieve even and efficient water distribution.
• Conduct backflow testing and prevention to ensure the water supply is not contaminated by the irrigation system.
• Implement water-saving technologies and techniques to promote efficient water use and conservation.
• Interact with clients to understand their irrigation needs provide solutions and educate them on system operation and maintenance.
• Manage and maintain tools and equipment used for irrigation work ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.

Drainage duties include

• Drainage Installation: Utilise specialized drainage plant and equipment to install effective drainage systems in sports fields including sub-surface drainage slit drainage and sand grooving.
• Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites for drainage installation including excavation trenching and grading to ensure optimal drainage performance and turf health.
• Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain specialized drainage equipment such as trenchers drainage plows and gravel carts ensuring safe and efficient operation at all times.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that drainage systems are installed to the highest standards of quality and in accordance with project specifications industry best practices and safety regulations.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with construction teams project managers and other stakeholders to coordinate drainage installation activities and ensure timely project delivery.
• Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues or challenges encountered during drainage installation adapting techniques and strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of drainage installation activities including site conditions materials used equipment maintenance and any deviations from the original project plan.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while operating equipment and working on construction sites promoting a culture of safety among team members.

What are we looking for

• Knowledge of different types of irrigation systems
• Previous experience in maintaining sports fields/ golf irrigation system
• Previous experience in operating specialized drainage plant and equipment preferably in the context of sports field construction or landscaping projects.
• Proficiency in the operation and maintenance of drainage equipment including trenchers drainage plows and other relevant machinery
• Great customer service skills and consistently delivering quality workmanship
• Someone who thrives in a dynamic and fast paced environment and is looking at tackling a new challenge
• Qualification in Turf/Horticulture preferred but not essential
• Drivers licence and WHS White Card
• National Police Check and Working with Childrens Check or willing to obtain
