GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


Elevate your career and find a healthy work-life balance by joining the Wyoming Governors Council on Developmental Disabilities (Council). We are presently seeking highly motivated organized and professional applicants for the Executive Director. The Council is comprised of 29 members appointed by the Governor who represent people with developmental disabilities family members and state agencies.

The Executive Director of the Council provides regular communication on issues concerns activities etc. to Council members; assists the Council with planning development and implementation of the 5-year plan submitted and monitored by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities; develops recommendations and implements strategies for increasing the independence productivity and integration of persons with developmental disabilities; plans organizes directs and coordinates the staff programs and activities of the Council and the Councils committees to assure that goals and objectives are attained work tasks are accomplished and member needs are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.


  • Reports to and assists the Council Chairperson responsible for the administration management and direction of the Council staff.
  • Represents the Council in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with state agencies advocacy organizations people with developmental/ intellectual disabilities family consumer and elected officials.
  • Responsible for the development of the budget tracking monitoring and reporting to the Council and Administration on Developmental Disabilities.
  • Directs instructs advises counsels and conducts performance evaluations of personnel; exercises judgment develops goals and objectives communicates policies and expectations motivates supervises and facilitates team approach to problem solving.
  • Provide constituent assistance services for information and referral to people with disabilities and their families regarding services and supports.
  • Confer with the developmental disabilities community regarding problems or questions affecting the Council work system.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:


Preference may be given for any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in the human services area planning or administration or other closely related field.
Preference may be given for five years of professional work experience in the human services field which includes policy analysis advocacy activities research planning grants management and work with state and local agencies related to developmental disabilities services.
Preference may be given for at least two years with consultant supervisory or management responsibility. roles

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Exempt
  • Travel required
  • Successful applicants are required to pass a criminal background investigation
  • Salary is commensurate with relevant experience
  • This is an At-Will Position that serves at the pleasure of the Council
