You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe IT Services Team exists within the Information Technology Services Group to provide information systems support and advice required to enable research outcomes and administration activities of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and The Kinghorn Cancer Centre (TKCC).
THE OPPORTUNITY
The IT Support Specialist reports to the IT Services Manager and is part of a small dynamic team that is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the Garvan IT Service Desk. It is the first point of call that enables and supports scientists and administrative staff to facilitate Garvans research. It requires a strong client-focused outlook. This role is ideal position for an entry-level IT Support Specialist or graduate although more experienced professionals are welcome to apply. The role requires an onsite presence.
Salary: Up to $.5% super salary packaging (depending on experience)
Employment Type: 18-month fixed term

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The key responsibilities include:
Providing a high level of 1st and 2nd level technical support via telephone service desk portal and face-to-face to over 1000 users
Maintaining a high level of end user satisfaction
Support of macOS and Windows
Support of Microsoft apps within Microsoft 365
Maintenance of printers and other peripheral equipment
Setup maintain and support Mac and Windows workstations/laptops
Provide technical expertise in the provision of support services and a central point of contact for Technology users projecting a positive client-focused image while resolving requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Record update and maintain detailed information in the IT service management system
Support of technology-related equipment and hardware such as PABX telephony systems audio-visual equipment photocopiers and scanners
Good time management skills attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised

Experience with macOS and Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365
ITIL certification desirable
This is an entry-level role that would suit a recent or new graduate with a degree in Computer Science (or in an equivalent) with the possibility of career progression though our Applications or Infrastructure teams.
