The Deputy General Counsel provides general legal support to the Department with a focus on agency privacy and security compliance and Veteran legal needs coordination and outreach. Under general supervision of the agency General Counsel the Deputy General Counsel is responsible for supporting the internal operations of the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs. Duties include leading the team that is drafting and implementing privacy and security policies and other requirements and assisting with strengthening the network of military and Veterans serving legal services in the state.
Responsibilities:
A juris doctor degree from an accredited law school and experience as a practicing attorney.
Active license to practice law In South Carolina.

Additional Requirements:
Experience with state and federal privacy and security laws Veterans legal issues legal services outreach or government practice preferred but not required.
