Job Description
Red Hat is seeking an experienced Data Center Manager for EcoSystems Engineering Partner Lab in the metro Boston Massachusetts area. The lab provides a hosted integration facility for some of Red Hats global partners and provides an important integrated test bed for the next generation of telco and other collaborative partners. This is a hybrid position based in BILLERICA MA.
What you will do:
Oversee the smooth functioning of the EcoSystem Engineering Partner Integration Lab.
Assist with triage of inbound work requests. Coordinate with the team of local and remote data center engineers to ensure software network and hardware issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
Candidate must be located near the colocation site in Billerica MA as a physical presence at the lab is expected the majority of days.
Ensure appropriate monitoring and maintenance of installed equipment.
Work with team to maintain critical infrastructure further propose enhancements then test implement and verify backup and restore of the infrastructure.
Interface with the Data Center operators to ensure physical infrastructure needs are met and maintained.
Prepare for the onboarding of new partner equipment personnel visits and remote access.
Work with partners to plan and coordinate prototypes and loaner usage
Lead ongoing security review of lab and processes
Ensure up-to-date documentation exists for all lab infrastructure components and processes
Interface with internal teams for capacity planning
Plan license and support renewals
Maintain lab inventory
What you will bring:
Understanding of and experience with networking technology (server switch or appliance configuration) key networking protocols tunneling technologies switching and routing
Experience working with and supporting customers and/or partners
Clear communication and organizational skills
An understanding and use of modern virtualizations and containerization technologies and platforms.
Proficient in Linux operation and administration
Ability to interface and collaborate with technical architects to define project details/POCs including the ability to collaboratively break-down large difficult problems into manageable chunks that can be allocated to subsystems associates or other projects and tasks.
The ability to size and estimate scheduling in a collaborative environment.
Detail-oriented management and project management style.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interface with internal and external partners and customers including a mixture of technical and executive leadership.
A strong desire to learn new things and adapt as needed. Must keep current with upcoming technologies plan for telco use.
Nice to have
Production Telco/SP experience
Experience building Proofs of Concept (PoCs)
An understanding and/or use of contemporary automation technology
Documentation experience
An understanding of Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) Firewalls Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)
Maintenance of a Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery environment
Understanding of hardware and software performance tuning concepts
Kubernetes administration
Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location experience applicable skills and training external market value and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hats compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus commission and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
