Job Description

If that sounds like you wed love to meet you. Were growing in the Oceania region and are looking for a Business Development Manager who can connect with clients lead strategic pursuits and champion our vision in target markets. This role is open to our Brisbane or Perth offices.

From early-stage planning through to relinquishment were helping reshape the future of mining and were looking for people who want to be part of that transformation.



Responsibilities:

Strategic Growth Initiatives

Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with Okanes strategic objectives in Australia and New Zealand. Engage with industry events and associations to anticipate emerging market needs and contribute to regional growth plans.

Client Relationship Management

Build and sustain long-term trust-based relationships with key clients by understanding their business needs providing ongoing value and facilitating feedback loops. Act as the voice of the client internally to ensure their priorities are reflected in service delivery.

Proposal Support

Lead the response to compelling Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and the development of client-specific Statements of Qualifications (SOQs). Contribute to compelling proposals ensuring submissions align with client requirements and Okanes commercial risk tolerance.

Contract Negotiation and Agreement Support

Lead commercial discussions with clients ensuring that contractual terms align with both client needs and internal risk management standards. Collaborate with contract management and operations teams to finalize agreements that support long-term partnerships.

Regional Strategic Partnerships

Forge collaborative relationships with key stakeholders such as government agencies industry leaders consultants and research and academic institutions. Identify and formalize collaboration agreements that create long-term value for both parties.

Marketing and Community Presence

Localize and activate global or regional marketing initiatives in Australia and New Zealand. Coordinate Okanes presence at conferences and support community engagement efforts. Work closely with the marketing team to maintain messaging alignment.


Expectations for this Role:

  • Youre meeting (or exceeding) regional revenue targets and maintaining a robust well-qualified sales pipeline.
  • Clients view you as a strategic partner someone who understands their business and helps them solve long-term challenges.
  • Youre supporting high quality proposals that elevate our win rate and you are leading commercial Agreements aligned with both client expectations and Okanes standards.
  • Youre a consistent credible presence at industry events.
  • You model Okanes Core Values in every client interaction and are a trusted voice within the team.
  • You actively integrate health safety and environmental considerations into every aspect of your work. This may look like completing hazard assessments and other HSE project requirements following internal procedures and policies participating in safety training and promoting a safety culture.
  • You are comfortable working flexibly across time zones and travelling up to 30% including overnight and occasional international travel.


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in business development or professional services within the mining energy or environmental consulting sectors.
  • A degree or diploma in engineering geological or environmental sciences.
  • Proven track record of leading successful proposals and negotiations that resulted in long-term client partnerships.
  • Active participation in industry events and associations.
