Job Description

The Supervisor of Assembly Test & Paint (Value Stream) is responsible for the overall leadership coordination and performance of all activities within the designated assembly testing and painting value stream. This includes ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality valves for water works applications optimizing processes maintaining a safe working environment and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.

 

Scope of Responsibilities 

  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members. 
  • Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. 
  • Wear appropriate PPE including fall protection respiratory protection hearing protection foot hand head and eye protection. 
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the assigned work area as well as maintaining a safe and clean work environment.  
  • Proactively promotes the McWane Way principles.  
  • Lead motivate coach and manage the assembly test and paint team.
  • Develop and implement training programs for current and new team members as well as cross-training.
  • Enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with production quality and procurement teams to support manufacturing schedules and material availability.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings with the team.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Communicate production goals.
  • Develop a pull system for work from the customers due dates.
  • Collaborate with the Planning group to develop and manage production schedules for the department.
  • Inventory management of the area.
  • Oversee and verify quality inspections.
  • Report nonconformances in QT9.
  • Ensure process control and optimization. Lead in driving an environment of a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Operate forklifts pallet jacks and other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records.
  • Duties and responsibilities may change at the discretion of leadership.

Qualifications :

Required:

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 1-2 years in a lead role.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to work as a team player and communicate effectively outside your department.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations inventory control and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with valves castings and mechanical components is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems preferably Dynamics 36.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience and 1-2 years in a lead role preferably within assembly test or paint operations.
  • Experience in valve manufacturing or similar industrial products is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership communication and problem-solving skills.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Standing walking stooping balancing kneeling reaching and sitting are some of the physical requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and adhere to physical requirements as well as wear the appropriate PPE (steel-toed boots safety glasses hearing protection and mask).
  • Will be required to work in the following conditions: heat cold noise and vibration.
  • Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
  • May be required to work extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Able to tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
