Job Description

Job Title: Elementary Dual Language Teacher (multiple openings)

Job Description:

This teacher is responsible for teaching elementary school students (K-5) in our

dual immersion program providing language instruction which prepares the students to become bilingual and biliterate in two languages (English and Spanish) while delivering our curriculum in both languages by applying principles and theories of foreign language immersion programs and child development.

Specific duties include:

  • Facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum for K-5 students.

  • Instructs students in Spanish at least 50% of the time.

  • Varies and paces classroom strategies to accommodate different learning styles actively involves students and maximizes student engagement in meaningful learning.

  • Models and teaches respect with an awareness of diversity.

  • Effectively works with and responds to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.

  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teachers expectations developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.

  • Assesses students for the purpose of providing feedback to students parents and administration regarding students progress expectations goals etc.

  • Assists other teachers for the purpose of implementing curriculum.

  • Uses current body of knowledge in cultural diversity issues in teaching and curriculum development to design and adapt individual/group academic and behavior/social programs in all school settings.

  • Collaborates with school personnel parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes developing solutions and planning curriculum.

  • Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined course of study.

  • Assists school staff and administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct reinforces individual schools plan for positive behavior support develops reasonable rules for classroom behavior and utilizes effective proactive behavior management skills in all school settings.

  • Participates in development and implementation of individual student plans (e.g. IEP 504).

  • Works as part of the school team to fully implement Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).

  • Maintains regular and appropriate attendance and is on time for assignment(s) for the purpose of meeting the needs of the students and the district.

  • Monitors student activities (e.g. classroom lunch grounds etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.

  • Prepares teaching materials and reports (e.g. grades attendance anecdotal records etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress.

  • Reports incidents (e.g. fights suspected child abuse suspected substance abuse etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code district and/or school policy.

Job Requirements:

Requires Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Education or a related field.

Must be eligible to receive an Oregon Teaching License.

Must also be fluent in English and Spanish both oral and written communications.
