Job Description

Were looking for an experienced Sr. Product Manager - Technical to join our AWS Boost team and lead the development of our unified data center operations service. In this role youll own the end-to-end product lifecycle for significant technical features that impact thousands of data center technicians and the global AWS infrastructure they maintain.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge of data center operations with strong business acumen. You should be comfortable diving deep into technical architectures while maintaining a clear focus on improving efficiency safety and reliability in our data centers. Youll need to effectively influence across organizations like Data Center Operations (DCO) and Data Center Systems (DCS) build consensus on complex technical decisions and drive execution through multiple engineering teams.
This role offers the opportunity to:

* Drive strategy and execution for AWS Boost the platform transforming how we manage data center lifecycle operations
* Work with new technologies that power the backbone of AWS infrastructure

* Build and launch features used by thousands of technicians across our global data center footprint

Key job responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision

* Define and own product strategy vision and roadmap for significant technical products/features
* Drive product discussions with executives and stakeholders regarding vision goals and tenets
* Contribute to operational planning and business reviews (OP1/QBR/MBR)
* Make data-driven decisions to influence technical priorities and business strategy

Technical Leadership

* Partner with engineering teams to evaluate technical feasibility and architectural decisions
* Assess impact of emerging technologies on product features and use cases
* Identify and address technical limitations that affect product scale performance or innovation
* Collaborate with senior/principal engineers on complex technical decisions

Customer Focus & Execution

* Work backwards from customer needs to define clear product requirements
* Lead market research and usability studies to validate product decisions
* Drive constructive dialogue between business stakeholders and engineering teams
* Make smart trade-offs between time effort and features
* Establish and track meaningful metrics to measure product success

Process & Communication

* Create clear product documentation including PRFAQs specifications and strategic narratives
* Develop product materials and training content for sales and technical teams
* Establish/simplify processes to ensure product meets customer needs
* Create mechanisms for measuring and reporting product performance

Technical Requirements

* Deep understanding of software architecture and system design principles
* Ability to evaluate technical proposals for strengths/weaknesses in areas like scalability performance and security
* Experience working directly with engineering teams on technical trade-offs
* Understanding of emerging technologies and their potential impact

Your morning kicks off with a rush of excitement as you check the AWS Boost dashboard and discover your teams latest workflow update has slashed completion times by 3 minutes across thousands of daily operationsa win worth celebrating with your engineering team during stand-up. The day accelerates as you bounce between virtual feedback sessions with technicians testing your latest feature whiteboarding integration solutions with the Workforce Management team and diving into a technical architecture discussion where your distributed systems knowledge helps solve a thorny integration challenge thats been stumping even your principal engineers.
By afternoon youre analyzing usage data that reveals surprising mobile adoption patterns in newer facilitiesan insight that immediately reshapes your roadmap prioritiesbefore confidently presenting to senior leadership how your work planning feature will reduce unsellable time by 8% across the global AWS infrastructure. Just as youre wrapping up plans for tomorrows data center site visit (where youll get to don safety gear and observe your Parts Removal workflow in action) a Slack message pops up from a technician in Singapore thanking your team for making their work actually enjoyable for oncethe perfect end to a day where your decisions directly impact how thousands of people maintain the digital infrastructure powering much of the worlds internet.

About the team
Building Resilient Infra for DC Growth and Efficiency encapsulates our teams expanded focus on not just software and automation but on the impact of the diverse set of products programs and services our teams own to further DCCs mission of building and operating the worlds safest most secure highly available (and sustainable) cloud infrastructure. Much like a bridge allows people to move efficiently over barriers that would otherwise stop or slow them our ultimate vision is to connect the hundreds of different aspects that make up data center operations in all DCs globally.

- Bachelors degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience managing technical products or online services
- Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

- Experience in using analytical tools such as Tableau Qlikview QuickSight
- Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
