An integral part of the UK Corporate Functions Finance team the DB plc Management Accountant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the on-time reporting of high quality financial data. The individual will be accountable for the accurate reporting of financial data and for preparing and analysing information for monthly and quarterly reporting as well as for budgets and forecasts.
You will ensure that data is presented accurately and that any accounting issues are identified understood and resolved on a timely basis through detailed planning and process management. The DB plc Management Accountant will provide insightful analysis and commentary for Senior Management. It is therefore vital to form strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business. In this role you will also be responsible for the preparation of management and statutory accounts for the De Beers UK Corporate entities (DB plc and other small UK entities) amongst other tasks. In addition you will take responsibility for the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and for liaising with external auditors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the requirements of the De Beers Group reporting timetable for DB plc and related UK corporate entities to ensure that all activities are completed within the set timelines including;
- preparation and completion of month end reporting and CFO reports for submission in HFM (Group Consolidation system);
- preparation of management accounts for UK corporate entities on a monthly basis;
- preparation input and completion of forecasts and annual budgets in Onestream and HFM including income statement balance sheet and cashflows;
- completion of stat notes in HFM and Group templates at both interim and year end;
- completion of the long term strategic plan within HSF and ultimately Onestream;
- preparation and completion of De Beers India interim and year-end submission.
- Custodian of De Beers UK Corporate entities periodic cash flow including monitoring GBP and other currencies and liaising with Treasury as required;
- Custodian of funding and loan agreements between the UK corporate entities and other operational entities across the Group;
- Preparation of the management accounts/statutory accounts for De Beers plc and other UK corporate entities on an annual basis;
- Monthly SAP requirements such as review of journals prepared and posted by the Assistant Management Accountant loading exchange rates posting ad hoc journals agreement of intercompany balances with other Group companies and running monthly reports as part of the month end process;
- Working with the Assistant Management Accountant in completion of the Balance Sheet Reconciliations;
- Provide DB plc VAT SAP extracts to the Senior Accounting Technician and review the DB plc VAT return on a monthly basis;
- Working closely with Group Tax and external tax advisors to complete the De Beers UK corporate entities tax requirements including completing the DB plc tax pack on Anaplan for interim and year end reporting and responding to queries from the external tax advisors for completion of the annual tax returns;
- Responsibility for impairment reviews on investments annually as part of the financial statements process;
- Managing risk and compliance activities within UK Corporates including responsibility of Business Integrity Implementation Manager (BIIM) working closely with the Business Integrity Champion (BIC) to ensure all responsibilities in accordance of the BI Policy are fulfilled including but not limited to:
- Formulation and implementation of AML procedures within DBUK (including maidenhead) and ongoing monitoring of compliance;
- Responsible for completion of BPP workbooks and key contact during the audit of this process;
- Other BI topics:
- Preparing the business integrity plan and ongoing monitoring and reporting;
- Maintain GEH policies procedures and forms;
- Preparing quarterly board reports for BI-related items;
- Quarterly review of IGO register;
- Training of staff on BI topics as and when required;
- Monitoring and reporting on completion of mandatory training initiatives rolled out by the Group.
- Responsibility for the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within the De Beers UK corporate entities.
Qualifications :
- Qualified accountant (2 years plus PQE) from an auditing background in professional practice
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and ideally experience with SAP Onestream HFM FDM and Anaplan
- Excellent analytical skills and will have the motivation and drive to be an integral part of process and system improvements
- Technical accounting knowledge and experience of statutory reporting requirements.
- A relevant accounting qualification ACA ACCA CIMA or equivalent.
