The Senior Director Corporate EHS works with the five Business Unit and Global Operating Services (GOS) EHS Directors facility EHS professionals Business Unit / GOS Leadership and cross-functional Site Leadership teams at the 50 Westinghouse facilities in 19 countries and 5 continents. The primary responsibilities of this executive position are (i) to develop Westinghouses global EHS programs standards training and tools to ensure rigorous compliance to global EHS expectations (ii) provide governance and support to ensure site leadership are compliant with global environmental health and safety regulations and laws and (iii) provide oversight and guidance to the Business Units and GOS. In addition this role will work with global EHS regulatory agencies and set the Westinghouse EHS strategy.
The Senior Director Corporate EHSs direct reports are responsible for industrial and chemical safety ergonomics illness and injury prevention radiation protection programs and environmental excellence including hazardous materials and sustainability.
This is a US mobile role with a strong preference for a candidate near one of our operating sites - Cranberry Township PA (HQ) Columbia SC or Ogden UT.
Your Day to Day:
- Leads Westinghouse Global EHS team to establish the strategy in collaboration with the business and functional needs.
- Responsible for the Westinghouse EHS Management systems across Westinghouse including development of policies programs and tools.
- Leads the EHS Risk-based Audit process to assess compliance to regulatory requirements and Westinghouses EHS Management System identify deficiencies work with the BUs/GOS to proactively address gaps and identify action plans to preclude external agency audits or investigations.
- Responsible for overseeing Westinghouses sustainability programs to support the Corporate Environment Social and Governance (ESG) program. Work with the business units to proactively identify future EHS risks and develop global contingency plans.
- Reports out Monthly the performance of Westinghouses industrial safety program across the company. Responsible to analyze corporate trends and assist in the development of programs for improving performance.
- Identify and report on companywide EHS risks and trends to Westinghouse Board of Directors and Executive leaders
- Monitor all EHS policies practices and processes to determine efficiency and effectiveness. Recommend improvements to achieve and deliver improved results.
Who You Are:
- Bachelors degree in a technical field preferably Industrial Safety or Environmental. MBA or Masters degree is preferred.
- 12 years of experience in a broad range of technical or manufacturing functions with at least 5 years in progressively responsible EHS management positions.
- Certified Safety Professional certification preferred.
- Drive results and delivers on commitments completing projects on-time within budget and with high quality.
- Prior experience successfully building and leading teams and developing talent across an EHS organization of direct and matrixed leaders from multiple locations and cultures.
- Proven ability to work across organizations and across international regions and cultures.
- Team builder who can coach and mentor team members and work closely with employees on their continued development.
- Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Resilient self-starter who can act independently and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment.
- Must be able to work strategically without full hierarchical responsibility.
- Familiarity with federal local and global regulations to ensure compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to manage global initiatives across multiple locations.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to convey a compelling and engaging vision of change.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to synthesize data and aid in developing executive level / Board of Directors presentations.
- Must be adaptive flexible and able to function effectively in a highly complex global environment with a proven ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
