Job Description
Location: San Diego Jewish Academy (San Diego CA)
Position Type: Seasonal / Stipend Position
Start Date: Fall 2025 preseason (conditioning may begin earlier) Regular Winter Season Runs November through February.
SDJA is seeking an experienced and dedicated Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach to lead our high school basketball program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court with a strong emphasis on character sportsmanship and competitive excellence.
- Plan and lead all varsity team practices games and tournaments
- Develop and implement a basketball program that aligns with SDJAs values and athletic vision
- Teach fundamental skills strategies and teamwork
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes families and school administration
- Support player academic success and character development
- Supervise assistant coaches and collaborate with JV/middle school coaches
- Ensure compliance with CIF rules and SDJA athletic policies
- Coordinate preseason in-season and off-season training (within CIF guidelines)
- Foster a positive inclusive and competitive team culture
- Prior high school or collegiate coaching experience required (head coaching experience preferred)
- Strong leadership organizational and communication skills
- CPR/First Aid NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching and Concussion in Sports certifications (or willingness to complete before season)
- Knowledge of CIF regulations and high school basketball best practices
- Must pass background check and complete all school onboarding requirements
This is a stipend position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and outlined during the interview process.
