Cape Breton University (CBU) invites applications for alimited-term position in its Bachelor of Social Work program at the rank of Assistant Professor (or lecturer depending on qualifications). This position will commence August 1 2025 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and end on July 30th 2026 renewable based on performance and department need. The position may be renewed subject to budgetary approval.

We seek a dynamic and dedicated educator with a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement. The successful candidate will contribute to our mission of preparing competent ethical and socially responsible social work practitioners through high-quality instruction and collaborative departmental service

Key responsibilities of this position include teaching a range of undergraduate social work courses both in-person and/or online as assigned by the department maintaining a student-centred approach to instruction and promoting inclusive engaging and evidence-informed pedagogies. The successful candidate will also participate in departmental meetings and service activities that support program goals and student success. Contribution to student advising mentoring and support is expected.

The candidate must hold a masters degree have solid practice experience in the field of social work and have experience teaching in adult education. Applicants must either be currently registered as a social worker with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers or be eligible for registration.
