Job Description

About us:

Project for Pride in Living Inc. (PPL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the hope assets and self-reliance of individuals and families who have lower incomes by providing transformative affordable housing and career readiness services. We are seeking a dynamic and experiencedCorporate Controllerto join our Accounting team and help lead our financial operations with integrity precision and purpose.

Position Summary:

TheCorporate Controlleris a key leadership role responsible for overseeing PPLs accounting functions ensuring compliance with GAAP maintaining strong internal controls and managing financial consolidations and audits. This role supervises corporate accounting property accounting and accounts payable staff and partners closely with senior leadership across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls aligned with GAAP.
  • Lead the annual corporate property and single audit processes.
  • Oversee monthly quarterly and annual financial consolidations and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Real Estate Development Asset Management and Property Management teams to provide financial insights.
  • Manage banking relationships debt investments and daily cash operations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate federal and state filings including taxes and audits.
  • Supervise payroll processing in coordination with HR.
  • Support and enhance accounting systems and process improvements.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of:
    • Accounting Manager
    • Two Accountants
    • Two Accounts Payable staff

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BA/BS in Accounting
  • Minimum 6 years of financial accounting experience including 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of multi-entity reconciliation consolidations and real estate development accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organizational interpersonal and leadership skills

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in Accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with active license
  • Experience with nonprofit or affordable housing finance

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Primarily office-based with standard working conditions
  • Occasional lifting of 1025 pounds

Salary

  • $130000-$140000 Annually DOQ
