Cardiac Device Tech - Full-Time

A Cardiac Device Tech provides patient care and provider support through the use of non-invasive cardiac testing diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions. This position is responsible for the registration analysis documentation and charging of 24 hour Holter Monitors Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors and EKGs. This position is also responsible for interrogation interpretation and programming of pacemakers Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD) and Cardiac Resynchronization (CRT) devices for a complex and diverse cardiovascular patient population.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts clinic and remote device interrogations and management for Pacemakers ICDs CRT devices and ILRs under physician supervision.
  • Completes inpatient and outpatient non-invasive cardiac tests such as EKGs Holter monitors and Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors
  • Analyses rhythm and blood pressure reports using specialized software
  • Recognizes documents and reports abnormal findings to providers and prepares standardized remote reports for review.
  • Troubleshoots and addresses device malfunctions and arrhythmias seeking appropriate therapies for both basic and complex issues.
  • Educates patients and families on device function follow-up scheduling and home monitoring; handles patient enrollment and clerical tasks.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure proper patient follow-up and manage device-related regulatory issues.
  • Identifies workflow improvement opportunities and assists in developing operating policies and procedures in collaboration with clinic leadership.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Certificate of completion from an approved cardiac device technical school/program preferred or educational equivalent and clinical experience to qualify for Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Associates degree preferred
  • 1 year of experience providing direct patient care in a hospital or clinic setting preferred
  • Allied Health Education

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computer systems and medical equipment (e.g. EKG machines Holter monitor software).
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to sit stand walk bend stoop or kneel for extended periods during patient care and equipment setup.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity to analyze rhythm strips and reports accurately.
  • Capacity to move between departments and patient care areas within the hospital as needed.
  • Able to wear appropriate PPE and maintain infection control standards.

Location and Travel Requirements:

  • Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center 101 Dates Drive Ithaca NY 14850
  • Shift: Full-Time Days Flex Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm. Ability to flex schedule on occasion if requested/required.
  • 0%-5% Travel can be expected in this role

Pay Range Disclosure:

  • Standard Rate of $16.20 to $21.63 per hour plus benefits
