Job Description

Legal Administrative Assistant - Indigenous Litigation

Salary Range: $60000-$80000
Job Type: Full Time

Our client a respected law firm in downtown Vancouver is seeking a talented Legal Administrative Assistant to join their Indigenous Litigation team.

Responsibilities
  • Manage client files from opening to closing including compliance with firm policies file organization and email tracking.
  • Conduct conflict checks maintain calendars and manage bring-forward systems for efficient practice management.
  • Schedule and coordinate trial dates discoveries meetings and conferences confirming logistics with all parties.
  • Draft proofread and edit legal documents pleadings correspondence and standard court filings.
  • Prepare and organize materials such as binders briefs notices and court records for legal proceedings.
  • File and serve court documents via BC Online in-person or through agents ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Conduct legal searches (e.g. BC Online Land Title Office corporate registries) and manage electronic file systems.
  • Arrange reimbursements process trust disbursements and assist with billing including monthly and final invoices.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as daily filing scanning and responding to general accounting or legal requests.
  • Provide additional support including scheduling tracking limitations and other legal or administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant program or relevant work experience.
  • 2 years work experience in Indigenous Litigation other litigation experience may be considered.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal terminology court rules and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and superior word processing spelling proofreading and editing skills.
  • Capacity to perform duties with speed and accuracy.
  • Strong time management organizational and multi-tasking skills and ability to work under pressure to meet important deadlines.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
