Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have obtained a Bachelors or Masters degree in Art Education Fine Arts or a related field. Additionally they must possess state teaching certification in Art Education or a relevant subject area. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in various art mediums techniques and processes. They should also have experience in curriculum development instructional design and assessment strategies specific to art education. Additionally candidates should showcase strong artistic skills and provide a portfolio demonstrating creativity and proficiency in visual arts. Knowledge of art history cultural diversity and contemporary art movements is essential. Candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should have the ability to inspire and motivate students to explore and express their creativity. Moreover candidates should demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

DESCRIPTION

The Middle School Art Teacher is responsible for providing comprehensive art education to middle school students fostering creativity self-expression and aesthetic appreciation through various artistic mediums and techniques. The teacher may be required to demonstrate artistic techniques provide individualized instruction and facilitate group projects. Additionally the teacher may collaborate with other educators attend department meetings and participate in art-related events and exhibitions as part of their responsibilities.

GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)

  • Develop and implement art curriculum aligned with state standards and educational objectives.
  • Teach students fundamental art principles techniques and processes using various mediums such as drawing painting sculpture and digital media.
  • Introduce students to art history cultural traditions and contemporary art movements through classroom discussions presentations and hands-on activities.
  • Encourage students to explore their creativity develop their artistic skills and express their unique perspectives and ideas.
  • Assess student artwork using a variety of methods including critiques portfolio reviews and exhibitions.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their artistic abilities and conceptual understanding.
  • Collaborate with colleagues artists-in-residence and community organizations to enhance art education programs and provide enrichment opportunities for students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress upcoming art events and opportunities for involvement.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with art education trends teaching methods and curriculum resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the direct supervision of the School Principal.

WORK CONDITIONS

The duties are primarily carried out within the school setting. The role involves performing professional tasks that offer support and consultation for the assigned department or program. This work often entails frequent standing sitting walking and light lifting. Certain assignments may have deadlines as they involve customizing and delivering programs to cater to diverse groups needs. Additionally employees may be called upon to provide emergency and non-emergency health-related services for students as required.

CONTRACT LENGTH

200 Days

*The noted salary applies to candidates who are properly licensed and endorsed in the areas for which they teach.

If you hold a bachelors degree and are willing to commit and take steps toward earning your teaching license you may be eligible for an Associate Teacher position. Associate Teachers serve in full teaching roles while receiving support and guidance as they work toward licensure. The Associate Teacher salary for 202526 is approximately $48265 (pending budget approval).
