The University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications forDirector of Development UNLV University Libraries R0147464

ROLE of the POSITION

The Director of Development for the UNLV University Libraries is a fundraising professional reporting directly to the Dean for the University Libraries and to the UNLVs Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement AVP. The Director will be responsible for meeting individual and unit fundraising goals. In coordination with the Dean of Libraries the Director will advance the mission of the Libraries by conceptualizing and implementing strategies to increase financial support from alumni and donors. This role emphasizes the qualification and cultivation of prospective and existing donors that may lead to successful solicitations of major gifts in support of unit priorities.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing a donor portfolio of 100-125 prospects with a philanthropic capacity to give $50000 or more to UNLV.
  • Initiating and conducting 12-15 visits per month for the purpose of determining philanthropic interests capacity and readiness. Of these visits 30% will be qualification-based.
  • Develop tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies and present written and oral proposals to donors.
  • Solicit gifts directly working independently or with the Dean of Libraries and other appropriate unit representatives to implement successful solicitation strategies.
  • Participate or lead the units strategic planning for short-term and long-term fundraising goals and work with external and internal constituents to promote understanding of fundraising priorities.
  • Oversee the stewardship and alumni engagement program including supervision of one administrative faculty position.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within and external to the Libraries for donor engagement project strategies and fund management.
  • Maintain and continue to build the Libraries Advisory Board while continuing to expand the board with next generation community leaders and cultivating the board as ambassadors in the community.
  • Provide input on print and online collateral for donors and work closely with the Libraries Director of Communications to provide input on message look and feel for donor communications.
  • Create and manage donor recognition and engagement events.
