The Director contributes to the overall success of Compliance team by supporting and championing the teams strategies and initiatives with a primary focus on the Quebec region. Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations internal policies and procedures.

The Director reports to the Vice President Canadian Banking and Corporate Function Compliance and regularly interacts with a diverse set of stakeholders to deliver change initiatives impacting Canadian compliance programs and provides ongoing oversight and maintenance of the Program through advice research analysis and recommendations.

Is this role right for you In this role you will:

  • Leads Compliance program for planning and execution for all Enterprise Compliance initiatives including implementing and maintaining enterprise controls such as regulatory change management monitoring and testing processes and Compliance Risk and Controls Assessments (CRCA).
  • Lead the Language Regulations Compliance Program in alignment with the Compliance Management Framework including managing applicable reporting compliant handling and regulatory interactions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas while ensuring adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk regulatory compliance risk and conduct risk including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Partners with the Compliance teams who oversee business units within Canada to deliver initiatives impacting the Compliance Program including developing maintaining and implementing improvements to policies procedures and processes to ensure they meet Global Compliance standards.
  • Provides expert advice and counsel to the business units related to regulatory obligations impacting Quebec.
  • Responsible for ensuring the design of the Compliance Program is aligned to Global Compliance standards and expectations.
  • As part of the Compliance leadership team provides knowledgeable and practical direction to the Vice President Canadian Banking and Corporate Function Compliance .
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of ongoing reporting provided by the Compliance Department to senior stakeholders including the Board of Directors Senior Management Teams and any applicable provincial regulators as well as ensuring this reporting meets the standards and expectations of Global Compliance.
  • Leads Compliance engagements with internal audit and external reviews and respond to regulatory inquiries.
  • Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including Global Compliance Corporate Functions regulators and asset management business leaders to support the achievement of initiatives and overall objectives.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness of compliance-related industry developments.
  • Successfully engages in multiple initiatives simultaneously; and
  • Participates in projects and other duties as assigned.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role Wed love to work with you if you have:

  • 8 years of Compliance related experience in the financial services industry;
  • Able to assess difficult compliance and other regulatory issues exercise sound judgement expeditiously with respect to such issues;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Excellent communication in both English and French;
  • Strong analytical skills and results oriented approach to decision making;
  • Ability to drive success in a high performing flexible and small/medium team environment;
  • Ability to manage several ongoing projects and competing priorities concurrently; and
  • Enthusiasm for making a positive impact to Compliance.
