Job Description
JOB GOAL:
To assist support and work closely with teachers administrators and other team members in providing educational and non-instructional classroom duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Daily attendance and punctuality are required for ensuring that program goals are met
- Assists pre-kindergarten students individually or in groups with lesson assignments for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts
- Implements under the supervision of the teacher the instructional program and lesson plans
- Monitors individual students classroom library playground activities etc. to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
- Learns and maintains knowledge of policies
- Performs routine record keeping and reports and clerical functions
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive data and information pertaining to individual students and/or overall program
- Assume reasonable job-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor in order to meet the needs of the students/school
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (In Arkansas 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education are required.) -or-
- Obtained an associates (or higher) degree -or
- Met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate through a formal State or local academic assessment knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading writing and mathematics (or as appropriate reading readiness writing readiness and mathematics readiness) (In Arkansas the formal test accepted is the Educational Testing Services (ETS) Parapro Assessment; applicants must obtain a passing score of 457 on this test. A Child Development Associate (CDA) certification and hours of training are acceptable substitutions for this requirement.)
- Experience working with pre-school age children is preferred
- Ability to carry out tasks requiring moderate physical exertion
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
